The Transformation of Scott McGillivray

We're taking you on a trip down memory lane. Scott McGillivray wasn't always the clean-cut HGTV contractor we know and love today. See the Vacation House Rules host's varied looks from years past.

Scott McGillivray is a man of supreme real estate talent. He’s also, it seems, a man of many looks.

We know him best as a renovation and real estate guru — host of HGTV’s Vacation House Rules — but he’s also a father of two, a husband and, most importantly, an avid fan of #ThrowbackThursday.

Scott's taken to Instagram more than a few times to share some very entertaining photos of himself over the years. The Scott we know is a clean-cut contractor who looks great in khakis and a tool belt, so to say his past looks are surprisingly varied would be an understatement. In the interest of taking a trip down memory lane — and learning more about Scott let’s check out all the unique looks he's pulled off.

The Transformation

The Beginning

Before Scott premiered on HGTV Canada as the host of Income Property back in 2009, he was just a boy with braces from Ontario, Canada, who spent his days fishing. Little did he know he was on a path to HGTV stardom.

The Curly Days

This isn’t the groomed hairstyle we see on Scott today. When he grows his hair out, it gets curly — a trait he says he passed down to his daughters.

The Pivotal Years

Another curly-haired picture of Scott. We suspect he was around 22 here — right around when he flipped his first rental. "Taking a year [after college] to really figure out what I wanted to do with my life was the best decision ever," he wrote. "This is when I started buying and renovating student rentals. Also clearly when I stopped getting hair cuts as well."

An Edgy Interlude

There's really not much to say about this rockstar look. The photo speaks for itself.

A Hair-Dye Hiatus

At 26, Scott embraced a Fall Out Boy-esque, side bang coiffure drastically different from his curls. At this point, Scott was still several years away from landing his first gig on HGTV, but his flipping business was well underway.

The Misplaced Years

We can't place exactly when Scott rocked this look, but we're on board with his Edward Cullen comparison. The resemblance is almost uncanny.

Present Day Scott

Scott's worked his way up the ladder as an HGTV host, graduating from Income Property, Moving the McGillivrays and Buyers Bootcamp to finally land on Vacation House Rules. He's the CEO of McGillivray Group and McGillivray Entertainment. He started an award-winning digital renovation series called Scott's House Call. And amidst all his sucess, he's also settled into a natural, all-American look we love. Proof in point: People Magazine named him sexiest man of the week back in 2014. Obviously, we can't get enough of present-day Scott, but we won't lose hope he might experiment with more fun styles someday soon.

Tune in to HGTV on Fridays at 9/8c to watch Scott on Vacation House Rules.
